I recently purchased a voucher from MyCityDeal.com:
A voucher which saved you 78% on a 60 minute Aveda elemental nature massage plus an Aveda manicure along with 50% off instore waxing at Redchat.
I live in north London so retrospectively, purchasing a treatment in Richmond probably wasn't the best idea to begin with. On a hot day I made the long drive to Richmond towards the end of the day to Redchat. Situated in the heart of Richmond's bustling shopping centre, Redchat is located on the corner. Parking was rather expensive but not too far a distance to walk to the store.
I was 10 minutes late and having called them beforehand that I was stuck in traffic the lady who answered the call sounded quite pleasant and not too upset at my late arrival. Once I arrived in the wonderfully air-conditioned property I was informed that the lady who was going to do my massage was running slightly late herself so my tardiness was welcomed.
After about 5 minutes I was taken up to a room on the 2nd floor. The staircase was very dark and rather humid. I struggled to see each step I took, but once in the room, my massage lady was a lovely Portuguese lady who made me feel rather at home. She gave me instructions how to prepare myself and she began 60 minutes of wonderful therapy. She was excellent! I had the feeling that she had done afew of these massages that day but there was not any glimpse of her being tired or carrying out any shortcuts. She told me where and why I was having pain if I even had any and got rid of all my stresses!! The massage oils smelled lovely and her customer service was wonderful.
Once finished I went back down to the ground floor to wait for my manicure. I was told my manicure lady was running slightly late and hence I decided to take a quick walk to top up my parking ticket. I returned just on time to be taken back upto the 2nd floor and was taken to a room that was so humid I was shocked they even had this treatment room up and running. The poor beauty therapist had to work in these conditions all day as her air conditioning was not working properly.
In the time that she left me to chose my colour I decided that perhaps I should go home and paint my nails myself and she could just prepare them. I was laid down in a comfortable chair whilst she removed my current nail polish. She then gave me the little pot to soak my nails in for the cuticle treatment which I had to balance on my stomach whilst crossing over my hands so she could treat the other hand!
The manicure was rather quick - the usual cuticle treatment and nail shape however there was not any hand massage which I thought might have been included. Once this was completed I asked her to just apply the base-coat and I would paint my nails when I got home because the room was far to hot for me to stay in there. She didn't argue but understood and she very nicely did as I asked.
I was not shown out as my manicure lady then had another client to attend to, which I don't mind. However I was sure that the voucher included 50% off in house waxing treatments...something I was not offered nor reminded of whilst in the shop at any point. I left without a word and made my way back home.
Do I think this voucher is of good value?? If I lived in Richmond or nearby then yes. The massage alone was great value. The manicure however seemed rushed and one of the treatment rooms was not at all comfortable - a feeling I assume to get everytime I book any treatment at any beauty salon.
Real cost vs voucher cost: £65 - massage + £25 - manicure (express I assume) vs £20
Conclusion:
Good value for money - massage was bliss and manicure was good but Redchat could definitely fix the air-con in the second treatment room, increase the lighting on the stairway for health and safety reasons and definitely improve on their customer service.
